The white tailed bumblebee has a short tongue, so he is unable to reach the nectar of tubular flowers in the same way as other members of the bumblebee family. While he looks cute and innocent, the worker bee has developed a cheeky technique called 'nectar robbing' inwhich he pierces a hole through the flower and robs it of its nectar without repaying it with pollination. This painting is part of my bugs and butterflies collection, which are a series of small prints available only in A5, designed to fit nicely when displayed together.
This is an original watercolour painting, colour printed onto 300gsm paper. Each print will be signed and numbered, then packaged using recyclable and compostable materials.
